African IDP Convention

(updated)

The Convention for the Protection and Assistance of Internally Displaced Persons in Africa was signed today by 17 countries. It will enter into force after ratification by 15 African Union members states, making it the first legally-binding instrument to focus on the rights of populations displaced within their own countries.
