Two New Annual Reports: Children, Disasters

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) released its 2006 World Disasters Report last week. The focus of this year's edition is neglected and overlooked crises and disasters. Summaries of the report's seven chapters are provided; chapter five looks at the challenges boat migrants face in their attempts to reach Europe.

UNICEF's State of the World's Children 2007 was also launched last week. The theme is gender equality. The text of the report and background papers are provided, along with downloadable statistics and profiles of women and girls facing different gender-related challenges.
