News: Even More on UN Refugee Summits

Event:

A New Era in Refugee Protection and Migration Management? Looking Forward After UN Summit on Refugees and Migrants, Webinar, 30 September 2016 [info]
- "Join Migration Policy Institute experts for a discussion on the possible impacts of the summits and whether these efforts will gain enough momentum to respond capably to the complex threats that refugees and migrants are facing. Will these international efforts propel states towards an international strategy to deal with migration and its associated challenges, and create a framework for innovative solutions to issues arising in the management of migration? Or will the millions of individuals who are forced to flee because of conflict, violence, climate change, food insecurity, and other reasons be left with empty promises and a still-broken protection system?"

New Issue of FMR

The latest issue of Forced Migration Review (FMR) has been published. The theme of FMR53 is "Local Communities: First and Last Providers of Protection." Here is the description:
"It is often people’s immediate community that provides the first, last and perhaps best tactical response for many people affected by or under threat of displacement. In the 23 feature theme articles in this issue of FMR, authors from around the world – including authors who are themselves displaced – explore the capacity of communities to organise themselves before, during and after displacement in ways that help protect the community. FMR 53 also includes eight ‘general’ articles on other aspects of forced migration."

Readers can access FMR articles individually, in HTML, PDF and MP3 formats, via the expanded contents feature, or as a complete issue. Back issues of FMR are available here.

FMR is an open access publication. It is available online and in print in English, Arabic, French and Spanish. Audio versions of articles are also available in English.
