The Commission on Human Rights will be abolished after it completes the work of its 62nd session. The Economic and Social Council adopted a resolution to this effect without a vote on 22 March 2006. Read a related UN news story here.
The CHR will be replaced by a Human Rights Council. Foreign Policy posted an article about the new entity entitled, "A Human Rights Body Worth Backing" (23 March 2006).
