While these guidelines were adopted by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) in June 2006, the Brookings-Bern Project on Internal Displacement is publishing a final version of them that includes a foreword. In doing so, "the Project hopes to assist the UN in providing the people on the front lines of disaster response with the guidance they need on how to ensure that the rights of people affected by natural disasters are better protected."
The accompanying manual referenced in the foreword is in the process of being finalized and will be made available online accordingly.
