Thematic Focus: Global Compacts Round-up

Where we are now:

A "zero draft plus" of the Global Compact for Migration was issued 5 March 2018 (compare with initial zero draft), and a second round of intergovernmental negotiations took place 12-15 March 2018. (Here is the civil society joint statement that was delivered on day 2 of the meetings.)

A "draft 1" of the Global Compact on Refugees was issued 9 March 2018 (compare with initial zero draft); the second formal consultation will be held in Geneva from 20-21 March 2018. (Here is the agenda. Also, a side event on 20 March 2018 will provide an update on the CRRF.)

Refugees International has published a helpful issue brief on "The Status of the Global Compacts on Refugees and Migration."
