Info. Request/New Pub.: COVID-19 & Stateless Populations

The Institute on Statelessness & Inclusion (ISI) has issued this request:

"If you have any information on how the pandemic and related law and policy changes are affecting stateless persons and/or civil society efforts to address statelessness, then please take a few minutes to fill out our SURVEY (also available in SPANISH, FRENCH, ARABIC and RUSSIAN). An overview of some of the latest developments on COVID-19 and statelessness can be found on our dedicated COVID-19 page."

Follow the link for more details. See also ISI's first COVID-19 update.

On a related note, UNHCR has just published a paper entitled "The Impact of COVID-19 on Stateless Populations: Policy Recommendations and Good Practices." It "outlines ways in which stateless persons and persons at risk of statelessness may be disproportionately impacted by the crisis and aims to provide governments and other stakeholders with recommendations and examples of good practices in these areas. It also addresses the risks of statelessness that may arise as a result of disruptions to the full functioning of civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems and other documentation services such as the issuance of national ID cards."
