World Refugee Day is commemorated each year on June 20th to "celebrate the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. World Refugee Day is an occasion to build empathy and understanding for their plight and to recognize their resilience in rebuilding their lives." Here is the High Commissioner's statement.
You can find events and activities here to participate in and/or follow the live blog and Twitter hashtag to learn about what's happening around the world. For messages of support, search on "World Refugee Day" in ReliefWeb.
