This year's High Commissioner’s Dialogue on Protection Challenges kicked off on 21 Oct. 2020 with its first virtual session. Four subsequent sessions will be held in November and December (two each month). The overall theme is "Protection and Resilience during Pandemics." 

The opening session included "an inspiring group of five refugees and a Sustainable Development Goals advocate who are engaged in the response to the pandemic. ... [They shared] their experiences and discuss[ed] the protection and resilience challenges posed by the pandemic, solutions that can help us in the future, and lessons learned that could help us to confront other global challenges, such as displacement related to climate change and disasters. These exchanges and testimonies will set the stage for the discussions in the virtual sessions to follow."
