The Making of Teachers in the Age of Migration: Critical Perspectives on the Politics of Education for Refugees, Immigrants and Minorities
(Bloomsbury, 2023) [open access]
- "With curricula of teacher education – like school curricula – remaining highly affirmative of localized traditions and styles of reasoning, in times of migration movement, teacher education needs to be reframed to become a global issue. The book's contributions cover manifold facets of how the idea of what makes a teacher is being reframed, touching upon theoretical foundations of perceptions of the teaching profession and concrete analyses of measures to bring internationally trained teachers into systems or make them part thereof. Chapters elaborate on how non-local teachers find their way around and are being treated by pointing to what hinders their (successful) re-entry and how other non- or differently-trained personnel receive preferred treatment. Other contributions focus on strategies teachers apply to deal with ever-growing levels of diversity among students."

Migration, Displacement, and Higher Education: Now What?
(Springer, March 2023) [open access]
- "This open access book is a nuanced introduction to Forced Migration Studies and a toolkit for faculty and undergraduate students, with a special emphasis on community-engaged learning. Experts from the social sciences, humanities, arts, and experimental sciences offer interdisciplinary perspectives to translate critical analysis into concrete action. The collection highlights activists, artists, and educators who have initiated projects in cooperation with and for the benefit of populations affected by migration and displacement. Together, these contributions powerfully articulate the relevance of the liberal arts and social sciences in preparing students to meet increasingly interconnected global challenges such as forced migration, climate change, and Covid-19."

- The Protect Project is coming to an end. Their aim has been to "study the impacts of the UN's Global Compacts on Refugees and Migration, which are two non-binding frameworks promoting international cooperation and responsibility-sharing as key solutions to handle global refugee flows. By studying how the Compacts are received and implemented in different countries, and how they interact with existing legal frameworks and governance architectures, we investigate the Compacts' impact on refugees' right to international protection." Migrants and Refugees in Europe: Work Integration in Comparative Perspective
, Policy Press, Jan. 2023 [open access]
- "The motivations of migrants for travelling to Europe vary, and the quality of the processes involved in their settlement and contribution to social and economic development are inextricably linked to their prospects of finding and sustaining good-quality work. This book explores the labour market integration of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers across seven European countries: the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Italy, Switzerland and the UK. Using empirical data from the Horizon2020 SIRIUS Project, it investigates how legal, political, social and personal circumstances combine to determine the work trajectory for migrants who choose Europe as their home."

Anxieties of Migration and Integration in Turbulent Times
(Springer, Feb. 2023) [open access]
- "How do migration and integration change when ‘crisis becomes normalcy’? This open access book investigates this question in the present context of turbulent times when, instead of dealing with one crisis, migrants, governments and whole societies have to cope within a complex web of multiple unsettling events that create anxieties about migration. Emphasising a plurality of theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches, as well as a variety of geographical settings in Europe and beyond, the chapters bring new insights into migrations produced by global political events, national political shifts, economic downturns and the Covid-19 pandemic."

The Human Right to Citizenship: Situating the Right to Citizenship within International and Regional Human Rights Law (Brill/Nijhoff, Dec. 2022) [open access]
- "This book offers a comprehensive analysis of the right to citizenship in international and regional human rights law. It critically reflects on the limitations of state sovereignty in nationality matters and situates the right to citizenship within the existing human rights framework. It identifies the scope and content of the right to citizenship by looking not only at statelessness, deprivation of citizenship or dual citizenship, but more broadly at acquisition, loss and enjoyment of citizenship in a migration context. Exploring the intersection of international migration, human rights law and belonging, the book provides a timely argument for recognizing a right to the citizenship of a specific state on the basis of one’s effective connections to that state according to the principle of jus nexi."
