Accession lists such as those posted by the RSC library are one way to find out about new research literature. The UNHCR library compiles similar lists. What are some other online resources to refer to?
Digests of relevant publications
http://www.icar.org.uk/?lid=5111
- The Information Centre about Asylum and Refugees in the UK (ICAR) provides access to “summaries of reports, books and other publications that we feel might be of interest to professionals and others involved with asylum seekers and refugees in the UK.” Browse or search by geographic region/subject.
Ethnic Conflict Research Digest
http://www.incore.ulst.ac.uk/services/ecrd/
- This resource from INCORE “publishes peer reviews of recently published books, journal articles and research papers on the dynamics and management of ethnic conflict.” Searchable archive.
H-Net Reviews in the Humanities and Social Sciences
http://www.h-net.org/reviews/
- Reviews of books, articles and multimedia materials. Subscribe to email announcements of new reviews, or add RSS feed. Searchable archive.
Human Rights and Human Welfare: An International Review of Books and Other Publications
http://www.du.edu/gsis/hrhw/
- This publication “publishes thematic review essays, book notes, topical review digests and hosts a working papers website.” Also lists books received from publishers. What’s new email list available. Not searchable.
Another feature to take advantage of is publisher alerts. Most journal publishers will email table of contents alerts to users. Increasingly, they are also offering RSS feeds (see previous post). For example, OUP offers RSS feeds for new issues of IJRL, IngentaConnect to subscribe to RSS feeds. This list highlights journal publishers that offer feeds.
Similarly, Amazon offers an option to be notified about new book titles that match a particular search. For example, conduct a search on "refugees" in the books section. The results page will include an "Amazon.com Alerts" item in the sidebar on the right that allows you to enter your email address for notification of new book releases about "refugees."
