News & Opportunity: International Law Award

Prof. Guy Goodwin-Gill is the recipient of the 2020 Stefan A. Riesenfeld Memorial Award. His work as a legal advocate for refugees and pre-eminent international refugee law scholar will be celebrated at a symposium entitled "Borderline: Problems and Perspectives in Global Migration," at Berkeley Law School on 28 February 2020. Prof. Goodwin-Gill will also deliver the keynote address.

As one of the hosts of this event, the Berkeley Law Journal also plans to publish a special symposium issue "that will feature the text of the keynote address, as well as select scholarly works on the themes of migration, refugee law, and asylum law." See the CFP for more information. The submission deadline is 1 March 2020.

As was noted in this IJRL article, the "name Guy S Goodwin-Gill is synonymous with international refugee law." One of his most well-known works is the seminal text The Refugee in International Law. Prof. Goodwin-Gill (along with his co-author, Jane McAdam) is currently preparing the fourth edition of this volume, which will be published in the fall.
