The U.S. Department of State released the annual Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2019 yesterday. The reports assess the human rights record of 199 countries and territories. Note that the format has changed. Visitors can select specific country profiles for 2019 from the menu on the right, as well as reports from previous years (as of 1999). A custom report can still be built, but only with data as of 2016. All archived reports from 1999-2015 are available here while reports from 2016 to the present can be accessed here.
Here are remarks from the Secretary of State and a transcript of the press briefing that launched the reports. This brief explainer describes how the country reports are used.
Finally, Newsweek reported the following: "Trump Admin Acknowledges Human Rights Abuses Against Migrants in Mexico Were Happening Before It Forced Them to 'Remain' There" [text]
