New open access book:

Arts Initiatives by Refugees for Refugees: Forced Displacement, Creativity, and Agency (Berghahn Books, Sept. 2026) [open access]
- "Forced migration is an international problem impacting global powers as well as smaller resource-constrained countries. The rhetoric, globally and locally is rife with a confusing tangle about war, violence, persecution, vulnerability, victimhood, thievery, welfare leaching, and economy recking. [This] is a narrative-driven book based in global multi-site research about the arts and cultural dimension of refugee 'crises' in discrete geographic and social-political contexts. The stories highlight agency, creativity, pleasure, celebration, entrepreneurship, friendship, and community because we typically don't associate these things with refugees. They emphasize how refugees contribute to their own communities and their host countries, contrary to stereotypical and often xenophobic anti-refugee assumptions."

New open access book:

Migration Power Europe: Between Norms and Leverage in the EU's Global Role (European University Institute, July 2026) [open access]
- "This volume conceptualises the European Union as a distinctive migration power: an actor that governs human mobility through several forms of power at once. ...Across twelve chapters, the contributors examine how the EU governs migration through externalisation to neighbouring and transit states, through interdependence rather than direct territorial control, and through the hybridisation of humanitarian, developmental, security, and diplomatic rationales, sustained by financial, legal, infrastructural, and symbolic architectures. The cases range across the Mediterranean, Türkiye, Morocco, Greece, and sub-Saharan Africa, extend to the EU’s own internal institutions, and reach back to the displacement politics of the late 1940s. Rather than seeking to prove the framework universally, the volume stress-tests and refines it through empirically diverse contributions. In doing so, it treats the tensions it surfaces, between coercion and consent, dependence and co-production, and crisis and the long term, as productive openings for theory. The result is a vocabulary for analysing the European Union as a migration power, and for marking the limits of that power."

Politics of Denial and Non-Recognition of Genocide: The Case of the Rohingya (Palgrave Macmillan, Aug. 2026) [open access]
- "While the mass atrocities against the Rohingya are well-documented, this book shows how recognition and accountability continue to be constrained by state denial, geopolitical diplomacy, and legal thresholds. Drawing on transdisciplinary backgrounds, the contributors reveal how the Rohingya have been systematically rendered stateless through denationalisation and state-sponsored narratives, which continue to shape the search for justice, including through the ongoing International Court of Justice case. The book’s distinctive contribution is to combine survivor-centred evidence with broader legal analysis. Organised in three parts, the chapters combine socio-legal analysis with empirical evidence from refugee camps, addressing structural violence, water insecurity, gender-based violence, domicide, media-framing, and the governance of protracted displacement.  In doing so, the book goes beyond familiar accounts of displacement to show how genocide operates before, during, and after 2017 through genocidal denial. It connects Rohingya survivor testimony, grounded field evidence, and contemporary debates on genocidal intent, non-legal definitions, and post-atrocity governance."
