The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC, formerly the Global IDP Project) released its annual survey of trends in international displacement yesterday. Internal Displacement: Global Overview of Trends and Developments in 2006 estimates that 24.5 million IDPs have been displaced by conflict around the world, a majority of them women and children.
