The 2009 edition of the U.S. Department of State's annual Country Reports on Human Rights Practices has just been issued. The report surveys violations of internationally recognized human rights in 194 countries around the world. This year's edition includes greater coverage of prison conditions, press freedom, the situation of child soldiers, and discrimination against LGBT persons.For human rights trends identified in 2009, read Asst.
