Human Rights Watch has published its annual human rights survey, World Report 2018: Events of 2017. As the Foreword notes, "World Report 2018 is Human Rights Watch’s 28th annual review of human rights
practices around the globe. It summarizes key human rights issues in more than
90 countries and territories worldwide, drawing on events from late 2016
through November 2017."
The topic of the keynote essay is "The Pushback against the Populist Challenge." The companion web site provides access to other thematic essays and multimedia presentations, one of which focuses on "Saving Lives at Sea: A Two-week Rescue Mission with SOS Mediterranee."
Readers can download the entire report or browse by individual country. Previous editions of the World Report can be found here.
