The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) has just released Internal Displacement: Global Overview of Trends and Developments in 2008. This annually-produced report notes that efforts to reduce the number of internally displaced persons around the world have not been successful; the estimated total remains 26 million, the same as 2007. The report begins with key findings for 2008 and discusses global and thematic developments. It continues with regional and country-specific overviews. A quick overview is provided in the press release. Previous editions can be accessed via the publications page.
