Refugee Resettlement Reform featured a post about "Finding Refuge," a series on the CPJ blog on how an Iraqi interpreter/journalist became a refugee and found protection in the U.S.
There is little information available specifically for journalists who are forced to flee persecution. Reporters without Borders recently prepared "Guidelines for Exiled Journalists" (June 2009) to provide "information about the procedures and potential obstacles in seeking asylum." More information and resources are available via the Exiled Journalists' Network (EJN).
Assistance is also available for journalists who report on asylum and immigration issues. UNHCR, the National Union of Journalists & the Irish Refugee Council have published "Reporting on Refugees: Guidance by and for Journalists" (June 2009) to promote fairness and accuracy when reporting on refugees.
