With the aim of making it harder to seek asylum in the U.S., the president issued a memorandum on 29 April 2019 ordering "Additional Measures to Enhance Border Security and Restore Integrity to Our Immigration System." As this Immigration Impact blog post notes, "These new rules would accelerate court hearings, limit options for relief, create new fees for an asylum application, and eliminate work permits for most asylum seekers."
