Statelessness Events after the Fact

A number of statelessness-related events took place last week around the world. Below please find some information on the ones I know about; others are hinted at on Twitter!

Conference on Statelessness and the Right to Nationality in the Dominican Republic, Washington, DC, 26 October 2011 [info]
- See webcasts of the event on the Georgetown Univ. Law Center site, and read a blog post on World Bridge, remarks by the U.S. State Dept, and a concept note from Church World Service.

Dialogue with Women on Gender Discrimination and Nationality, Beirut, Oct. 2011
- Read this blog post from the Statelessness Programme at Tilburg Univ.

Statelessness and Gender Discrimination, Washington, DC, 25 Oct. 2011 [info]
- Convened by Refugees International and the U.S. Institute of Peace. Read remarks by the U.S. State Department, a blog post on World Bridge, a first-hand account by a stateless Bidun, and an IPS news report.

Finally, here's a UNHCR news story on a conference in Zagreb on civil documentation and birth registration. The focus was particularly on the situation of the Roma in South-east Europe.
