A Few More Law-related Opportunities

My last posts on "Law/Policy Items" (Part 1 and Part 2) listed several opportunities with a legal focus. Since then, I have learned about a few more:

Call for registration: 2nd Asia Pro Bono Legal Community Workshop, 30 September 2020 [info]
- "This workshop is organized to further the global legal community’s pledge at the Global Refugee Forum to provide legal support to refugees and others forcibly displaced. The workshop will provide an opportunity for frank discussions with and between legal aid service providers and other NGOs around establishing pro bono projects with the private legal sector to meet the needs of refugees and others forcibly displaced."

Seminars: 11th International Refugee Law Seminar Series, Oct. 2020-March 2021 [info]
- Organized by the Refugee Law Initiative and the  Platform on Disaster Displacement. The theme of this series is "Human Mobility, Natural Hazards and Policy Responses." The first seminar will be held on 7 October 2020 and will discuss climate refugees.

PROTECT Expert Forum 2020: Opportunity or Threat: Receiving Refugees in Europe and the Effects of the Global Compacts on Refugees and Migrants, Geneva, 13-14 November 2020 [info]
- "The legal nature of the Compact has been much vexed – while it is not a legal instrument, it is a political commitment based on legal considerations. It was placed in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, the least legal of UN frameworks, yet is based on the principle of non-regression and upholding human rights generally and specifically for migrants. In this panel we will examine the Marrakesh Compact from the perspective of its added value to existing international norms which also cover migrants, in particular migrant workers."

CFP: AILA Law Journal [info]
- Contributions sought for the Spring 2021 edition. Submission deadline is 15 November 2020.
