Supporting Refugee Women

The Regional Dialogues with Refugee Women and Girls culminated in Geneva in June 2011, when a team of 10 refugee and IDP women presented at the UNHCR/NGO Consultations. Here is a recap of the process. In addition, a report has just been produced that "summarizes what women and girls reported and suggested during the Dialogues, encapsulating the problems, solutions, hopes and dreams of the participants." Read Protectors, Providers, Survivors: Refugee Women Speak Out - Summary Report (UNHCR, Nov. 2011).

Another initiative supporting refugee women and girls is "16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence," a campaign that runs annually from Nov. 25 to Dec. 10, or from the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women to International Human Rights Day.
