Cartagena Declaration on Refugees takes place this year. The commemoration of this anniversary is being referred to as the Cartagena +30 process, the ultimate objective of which is to draft a new declaration and plan of action at a ministerial meeting to be held in Brasilia on 1-2 December 2014.
More information about the process can be found on the companion web site, specifically in this concept paper which was prepared for the first of several sub-regional meetings, and the campaign's first newsletter. See also the web pages on the ACNUR site devoted to Cartagena +30, which highlight the achievements of the original declaration and the legal developments that have been accomplished in the interim. Finally, brief overviews can be found in the statement by the Director of the Bureau for the Americas and the update on UNHCR's operations in the Americas prepared for the recent Standing Committee meeting.
